Ballpoint — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 July 2026
Ballpoint ("the app") is operated by Karl Harris ("we"). This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
What we collect
- Photos you capture or import (notes, sketches, receipts, products): processed to extract text and structure. Photos are stored on your device. When you request AI extraction, the photo is sent securely to our AI providers (Google Gemini API; OpenAI as fallback) to perform the extraction, under API terms that do not permit training on your data.
- Business and document data (your company details, customers, quotes, invoices, prices): stored on your device in the app's local database. We do not operate a server that stores your documents.
- Purchase information: subscriptions are processed by Apple App Store / Google Play and managed via RevenueCat (receipt validation). We never see your payment details.
- Diagnostics: basic crash and performance data may be collected by the app stores' standard mechanisms.
What we don't do
No advertising, no tracking across apps, no sale of data. No account is required; we hold no password for you.
Data retention & deletion
Your data lives on your device: deleting the app deletes your data. You can export everything (JSON) from Settings at any time, free. AI providers process images transiently per their zero-retention API configurations.
Your rights (UK/EU GDPR)
You may request access, correction, or erasure of any personal data we hold (which, given the on-device design, is minimal to none). Contact: karlhfr@gmail.com.
